I first learnt TurboCad Deluxe more than 20 years ago for the design of up-market kitchens. On the afternoon of that first day I realised that I was cycling through a relatively small subset of the available tools and that it would be useful to assign shortcuts to these actions. 90% of these are the standard shortcuts that I still teach now. Over those years I’ve worked in training for a CNC machine manufacturer and taught approximately 80 different businesses in this way of using TurboCad.

Two thoughts about cad and training

1. Pace. I’ve noticed that the most I can expect in a training situation is about an hour of concentration before the trainee needs to go and do something else for a bit. That is why I structure the training to start in hour long sessions followed by later half hour sessions for knowledge consolidation and problem solving.
2. Applicability. Most people use a very small subset of the available tools in their CAD package. I teach you how to use the tools that you will need.
